Glossier – NEW Mango Balm Dotcom Review ðŸ¥ðŸ§¡ðŸœðŸ§˜ðŸ½â€â™‚️🍹☀️👩🏼‍🦰

Heyyyyyy! *screams with excitement and being scared the exact same time* It has been such a long time hasn’t it?!!! I believe my last post was in June 2016! Thinking about it, it’s really such a long time ago I would say over 2 years ??!!! My excuse …. is genuinely life has got in the way! Over the two years I feel I have done a lot of growing up! I know that sounds so random and cliche but it’s actually true. I graduated in BA HONS FASHION DESIGN too! I was diagnosed with a chronic illness in January 2017 and since then I’ve had 4 surgeries! Thennnn on top I’m now a assistant store manager! My life is EXTREMELY BUSY AND FILLED WITH SO MUCH RESPONSIBILITY !!! My chronic illness is a very sensitive topic to me, I have only opened up to my family and close friends about this. However I hope one day I have the courage to do some posts about my experience and how I can offer advice to others. With my personal experiences ive learnt it shapes you as a human being, so please never think you’ll never pull through hardships because you will!

Okay, so my first come back post, is going to be about the brand Glossier! Glossier is a brand who was founded in 2010 by Emily Weiss, Nick Axelrod and Micheal Harper. Originally the brands roots stem from Emily Weiss (who is the CEO to date) blog called “Into the gloss.” Here Emily covered topics regarding beauty, fashion and lifestyle. Having a look at the styling of the blog in comparison to the Glossier brand, their is an immediate connection as both scream simplicity in styling.

Glossier is a stripped back company who recognises women’s natural beauty, encouraging them to enhance these natural features – something I think personally other brands need more focus on. Unlike the traditional route of beauty marketing, Glossier have grew over the years with the help of social media. If I am very honest this is where I stumbled across this brand on Instagram, via a sponsored ad! In today’s society social media is a powerful tool and in 2018 the brands net worth became to a staggering 100 million – now that’s what you call self made! *Noooooo I am not having a dig at Kylie Jenner as I roll my eyes* With being one of the first digital companies they currently have a excessive following bracket for example, over 1 million on Instagram!

The company products focuses are skincare, make up and now have added a additional fragrance line which encourages you’re own natural scent – Still all in the theme of enhancing natural beauty. Reviewing the companies website their advertising campaigns are extremely DIVERSE *yeessshhhhhhh b***h as you know I’m very passionate about diversity in society* From women of colour, to plus sized ladies and pregnant women all are used to advertise the companies products. This to me shows just how as a brand they are not inclusive towards their target audience!! HURAAAYYY FINALLY A BRAND WHO TARGETS SIMPLICITY & ENCOURAGES SELF LOVE ! What brought me to purchasing items from the brand was how effortlessly fresh and natural looking the models looked on the adverts. I am not going to lie I love a full coverage make up look, so trying this brand doesn’t exactly fit to the norm for me. But heeeyyy ohhh, I’m open minded so let’s see how this goes! HOWEVER – will the products do it’s justice??? Let’s find out below!

Glossier Mango Balm Dotcom

Company’s claim;

“A hydrating, long-lasting, multipurpose lip balm and skin salve that’s packed with antioxidants and natural emollients to nourish and repair dry, chafed skin. The dense, waxy texture stays in place to seal in moisture wherever it goes.

Ok so before we begin the reviews of the Glossier products will be split separately, so I can give a really in dept review.

First impressions

The products arrive in a white box taped up with a Glossier logo. Opening the box the items are well presented and well protected. They are inside a pink bubble rap bag. I actually love this idea, it just shows how the brand genuinely thinks of customers care for products to prevent damage.

Not only this it is very unique as I have NEVER seen this before! If you have pleaseeee comment below as I could be wrong! Inside was the items I had bought, along with the mango stickers and my free sample. The Mango Balm Dotcom is £10.00 and delivery over £30 is free shipping.

Mango Balm Dotcom Packaging

I love the packaging it’s sooooo vibrant and it sticks with the theme of mangos! The mixture of text and imagery on the packaging goes together. You can instantly see the colour pallet for this product, as they are really emphasising the orange tones inspired by mangos. Just looking at this packaging alone makes me feel Summer Holiday vibes. *Sighhhhhhhhh* Their is 15ml of product inside the tube which I would say is a good amount of product. Looking at the ingredients the balm includes some impressive ingredients such as beeswax, sunflower extract and Rosemary leaf extract.

Instructions on the packaging says;

“Use on lip, on cuticles, on elbows, on your friend… anywhere that needs some love.”

Design of the Mango Balm Dotcom

The tubes design is very minimalistic which goes with the theme of the brand. The tube design I actually really like, how the more product you use the more distorted it will be – creating a new shape.

Nozzle of the product

However getting the product out of the tube at the start was difficult!!! Maybe it was because no foil cap was on the nozzle – which I would expect for hygiene purposes. I had to use a safety pin to loosen the top layer of the product so it could flow through! Personally i do not like the flat nozzle lip applicator. I find it too harsh on the lips, another brand I use Kiehl has the exact same nozzle and I dislike this also. I find it easier to place the product on my clean finger and pat on the lips. As the product is universal no excessive residue product will be left behind on the fingers and hands as I can just rub this into the skin.

First Try

The smell is sooooooo yummy! If you don’t like a product with a strong scent then maybe this will not be for you. The technique of application I used was a lip scrub to clean my lips so any dead skin was removed. I then with a clean finger patted and smoothed the mango balm on to my lips. First impressions – the application of the product soaked in to the lips. It did not feel greasy or tacky or if I licked my lips it did not wear off. Nor does it just sit on the top surface of the lips. It genuinely feels moisturised and feels conditioned! As being a assistant store manager at work the AC is always on!!!! Therefore I feel this product will be in my pocket to help to prevent dry lips. The translucent coral lip balm does not really add much colour to the lips – I’d say a tint. Looking at the lips they looked plumed and well conditioned. It does taste like mango HOWEVER the Mango Balm Dotcom doesn’t taste like it!!! *Whyyyyy as this is what I was hoping for* I can’t stress enough as the advertising campaign highly focuses on mangos, I don’t want you going away after reading this review thinking that you’re mouth is going to taste like the delicious fruit because it’s not haha !

As you can see my lips look full of moisture and just very natural and subtle

The Extra Perks??!!

The bag the items come in are very useful! You could use it as a make up bag orrrr even better if you was going to travel you could put items in the zipped bag to prevent items to be damaged! Plus it’s pinkkk what else could you ask for????

Over all rating?

Was I disopinted by this product? Nooooo I wasn’t ! The only improvement I could possibly give the brand was could you please change the formula so it tastes like mangos hahaha !!! Another benefit of this product is as it’s universal you can use it on dry areas on the body for a quick fix to moisturise. I would give this product a 4 out of 5 reason being it was a bit of a battle getting the product out of the applicator at the start! As I mentioned before working in management in retail with the AC constantly on dries the lips – so I will using this daily now! If you are thinking about purchasing its a daily item so you will not be wasting money at all. I liked that the product soaked into the lips and nourished them instead of sitting on top and licking it off!
